Karyotypic analysis of Chondrostoma regium (Teleostei: Leuciscidae) distributed in the Karasu River (Erzurum)

In this study, the karyotypic characteristics of Chondrostoma regium (Heckel, 1843) have been investigated. Fish samples were caught from Karasu River (Euphrates Basin) with fishing net. The live fish transported to laboratory and kept in aerated aquaria before analyses. karyotype analysis was performed kidney gill epithelium cells. It determined that C. had 2n=50 chromosomes. detail, formula as 9 metacentric, 7 submetacentric, 1 subtelocentric 8 telocentric chromosome pairs (18M+14SM+2ST+16T), fundamental arm number calculated 82. Constitutive heterochromatin regions on telomeres Nuclear orgnizer detected 21st chromosome. Karyotype symmetry/asymmetry index 2.32. karyotypes cells same. No sex chromosomes cytologically detected.
